"Exploring around our country's shipping ports and industrial yards, where the accumulated detritus of our consumption is exposed to view like eroded layers in the Grand Canyon, I find evidence of a slow-motion apocalypse in progress. I am appalled by these scenes, and yet also drawn into them with awe and fascination. The immense scale of our consumption can appear desolate, macabre, oddly comical and ironic, and even darkly beautiful; for me its consistent feature is a staggering complexity." VERY cool stuff here. Be sure to check out 'running the numbers.'

Ecomodder.com!
"This website may be new, but it is where many of the people who pioneered the 'hypermiling' trend hang out and discuss fuel economy. Everyone is willing to answer questions and help average people improve their fuel economy from 20-50% over EPA. I'm currently getting 90% of EPA ratings in my car with the knowledge I've learned from these people over the years. A great site with good design and helpful users."

Green Expander!
"The Guide to a Green Lifestyle. Pollution from cars, electricity,
agriculture and other human activities is a major cause of global
warming. We have launched this site as a wake-up call for a
fundamental issue that has a serious impact on us all. We have all
contributed to global warming and we all need to be part of the
solution. Animals are also affected by our actions. More than 1,000
are endangered all over the world, while around 100 animal species go
extinct each day. We believe that making people aware is the first
step towards recovery of the Planet and the animals inhabiting it."
